Game Development in Unity - Micro Credential

In this 5-day interactive boot camp, participants will be introduced to programming and game development, and learn how to create several small games! Taught by a seasoned industry professional, students start off with an introduction to C# and learn the fundamentals of programming. In the second half of this workshop, students will dive into the world of 3D Game Development, using the industry-standard Game Engine, Unity. In the final days, students will be challenged to add their own features and customize the game to their liking! This workshop requires no prior knowledge of game programming, and is open to anyone with an interest in learning how games are made!

THE INSTRUCTOR

Ivo van der Marel has had an extensive career working as a game programmer on major games, VR, and mobile titles. His career has taken him to global positions in Europe, China, Vietnam, and Canada. Ivo is the founding CTO of UTG Academy, a learning academy focusing on STEM programs for Grades 1 – 12 students that has grown across Canada and now the world. As well has extensive industry experience, Ivo has launched, grown and managed game design departments for Canadian creative arts educators in Shanghai. Ivo has had substantial input into the creation of new VR and games curriculum. Regularly recognized with awards for his teaching, Ivo now brings his deep technical and design skills to the Centre for Entertainment Arts, where he is training the next generation of industry disruptors.
